Low material weight plays a crucial role in the aviation industry. For this reason the aircraft manufacturing industry prefers light weight adhesives and hook & loop connections to screw connections or mountings made of heavier materials.

This is why hook & loop tape is increasingly used for snap closures or certain hinge functions while permanent fixtures are accomplished with special adhesive applications.
